Expertizing
At the request of the buyer, Pederson Stamps will extend the return privilege for a period up to 100 days if the buyer intends to submit the purchased item to a recognized expertizing committee. Pederson Stamps recognizes the Philatelic Foundation (PF), Professional Stamp Experts (PSE), Philatelic Stamp Authentication and Grading (PSAG), and the American Philatelic Expertizing Service (APEX) as expertizing authorities. Any other expertizing group must be approved by Pederson Stamps prior to submission. The privilege to extend the return period applies to any (single) item that we sell provided that item does not have a current (i.e., one less than 5 years old) certificate. Individual stamps from a grouping of stamps (i.e., set or bulk lot) may not be placed on extension, unless prior approval has been obtained. Requests for certification must be made no later than 30 days from the date of purchase. If the expertizing authority deems the submitted item to be other than as described by Pederson Stamps, it may be returned for a full refund. If the purchase price of the expertized item was more than $150.00, the refund will include the cost of the certificate, up to a maximum of $50.00. Expertized items may not be encapsulated as those items "will not" be accepted for return. Expertizing costs are not refundable if the service cannot render an opinion, or if a graded certificate disagrees with any statement regarding grade or estimated grade.
