Largest Number of a Given Prexie On Cover, Tag, or Parcel Piece
This census tracks multiple copies of a single Prexie on cover, tag, or parcel piece. The goal is to record the item(s) having the greatest number of a given Prexie. For the purposes of this effort, where a Prexie of a single denomination (e.g., 2 cents) is available in multiple formats (i.e., sheet, coil, booklet), each format is tracked separately. Since there are instances where a cover or parcel tag has stamps on both sides, each entry allows for up to two images. Those stamps overprinted for use in the Canal Zone are also tracked separately. We ask that Prexie collectors and other postal historians review the information and provide updates where possible. Updates should be sent to Richard Pederson, at rich@pedersonstamps.com, along with a high resolution scan (300 bpi) of the item so it can be included in the census and posted on the site. If the item in question has stamps on both sides, please submit scans of both sides. If you are the current owner and would like the item attributed to you, please say so. If you do not want the item posted, but included in the census, it will still be necessary to see a scan/picture of the item to be certain that it has not already been counted (e.g., from information passed by a previous owner). Each item being tracked is listed below with the current largest number known in parentheses following the listing. To see the details, including a description and images plus information about other significant multiples of the same stamp, click the desired item below.
